Fewa Lake Pokhar,Nepal

Posted by Anup Baral December 28, 2016 :
This is probably the most famous of the many lakes in Nepal but not necessarily the most beautiful. However, it is easily accessible and lies in the beautiful city of Pokhara. It is famed for the reflection of Mt. Fishtail (Macchapucchre as the Nepalese call it) on its waters during clear days. There is a small island in the middle with a temple of “Jal Barahi”. If you cross over from the jungle of souvenir shops, restaurants and hotels called Lakeside to the other side you get to the base of a hill, the summit of which is adorned by the Peace Pagoda. You might want to try the grill fish at the only restaurant at the foothill. The hike up the hill to Peace pagoda is short but steep. The view of Pokhara and the surrounding mountains from the top is really good. You can hire boats (both traditional and pedal) with driver or without one to enjoy boating in the lake. But be sure to ask for life jacket when you hire one.
