Online application service for driving licence begins

Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Ramesh Lekhak confirmed that he would inaugurate the much-awaited online application system at the TMO in Ekantakuna, Lalitpur tomorrow. “I am scheduled to inaugurate the first of its kind online system at 3:00pm and the TMO will start receiving and processing driving licence applications submitted online from the next day,” he said at a programme organised in Kathmandu today. Minister Lekhak also informed that the government had already initiated the process of opening three more outlets of the TMO, Bagmati in Kalanki, Chabahil and Bhaktapur for issuance of licence in a manner to reduce the work burden currently being shouldered by the Ekantakuna office. According to the Department of Transport Management, the online system aims to make the driving licence application process efficient and hassle-free. This service will be available in Bagmati zone only. After the launch of the online application system, people will not have to wait in long queues to submit their driving licence applications.
